An honest comparison

Build flows for months, or do the task once.

Digital adoption platforms (WalkMe, and tools like it) and Fello both help people through software. They get there in opposite ways. Here's the side-by-side, including when a DAP is the better buy.

Comparison criterion
WalkMe-style platform
Getting started
Install a desktop app and you're working in minutes, with no SDK, extension, or per-app setup.
SDK or extension, per-app configuration, an implementation project measured in weeks.
Where it works
It works across the whole desktop. One guide can cross native apps and browser tabs.
Mostly the browser, inside the apps you've instrumented.
Creating a guide
Do the task once while Fello watches. The recording is the whole authoring step.
Build each flow in an editor, step by step, screen by screen.
In the moment
It answers out loud, flies to the button, and waits for your click before moving on.
Tooltip and popup overlays inside the app.
"Where do I…?"
Answered in about a second, with the one right link. It can never invent a URL.
A search widget over the help content you've connected, where configured.
When the UI changes
Re-record the task. It takes about as long as doing it once.
The flow breaks; someone rebuilds it in the editor. Maintenance is a standing line item.
"WalkMe-style platform" describes the digital-adoption category generally (instrumented apps, flow editors, in-app overlays), not any one vendor's current feature list. If a vendor does better on a row, good for them; the architecture difference stands.
The honest part

Sometimes the answer is: buy the DAP.

When a DAP is the right call

You're instrumenting your own product to tour your end users at enterprise scale, with adoption analytics, A/B-tested flows and governance around who edits what. That's the category's home turf, and we don't do it. Buy the DAP.

When Fello is

Your job is one new hire's whole desktop: twenty internal tools you didn't build and can't instrument, questions that cross all of them, and no team to maintain a flow library. Teach it once, out loud, and it guides everyone after you.

And the part nobody puts on a comparison page

Adoption platforms are mature enterprise suites with a decade of references. We're a young product onboarding our first design partners, which means you talk to the founder, your workflows are the demo, and what your team needs shapes what gets built next. Procurement teams that need a hundred logos first will want the incumbents. Teams that want the next cohort productive by Friday should come try us.

Teaching beats authoring.

Bring one workflow your new hires always get stuck on and we'll teach Fello live on the call.

The teammate behind every new hire. Voice-first onboarding that rides on top of your stack.
